UPDATE: Hit and Run Causes Power Outage in Quesnel

A hit-and-run into a hydro pole in Quesnel was the cause of a power outage in the Johnson Subdivision.

Cpl. Rob Belanger says a red Chevrolet pickup truck crashed into a hydro pole at Johnson Ave and Sergeant St. at around 7 a.m. this morning.

“Witnesses observed the male flee down an embankment and then into the bushes,” Belanger says. “Frontline officers were able to track down the male on a riverside trail. The male was arrested and brought into custody on numerous Motor Vehicle Act offenses.”

Belanger adds that the suspect was caught about one hundred metres away attempting to flee the scene.

The accident caused major damage to the hydro pole and sporadic power outages.

BC Hydro says the hydro pole needed to be replaced, but power is back online in the subdivision.

**Updated for power outage relevance.**
