Controlled Burn At Boitanio Park

Expect to see members of the Williams Lake Fire Department at Boitanio Park tonight.

Deputy Chief, Rob Warnock says they’ll be carrying out a controlled burn.

“We’ve had a couple of fires in there the last two days, so we’re just trying to mitigate that-we’d rather burn in a controlled way instead of in an emergency situation when we’re putting ourselves at risk and the public at risk.”

Warnock says the Department is two to four weeks ahead of the regular fire season due to recent weather.

He says tonight’s burn will be the first of two to four the Department will be carrying out this year.

The session will run between 7 pm and 9:30 pm.
