Quesnel River Rush’s Lead Scorer Heads to NCAA D3

Quesnel River Rush’s Cash Anderson is heading south to join the NCAA.

Anderson has committed to play for the Fredonia State University Blue Devils in NCAA Division 3 next fall.

“I am super excited,” says Anderson. “This is the team I’ve been talking to for most of the season. Me and my family, a few coaches thought this would be the best route for me, and I’m super excited to go to Fredonia in August and get started.”

Anderson had a couple of offers from other schools but chose Fredonia after seeing the facilities and learning more about the program.

“An assistant coach of mine, Jordan Draper, had a buddy that played for Fredonia. Hearing from someone who had gone there, made it more comfortable for me to decide to end up at Fredonia.”

Anderson plans to graduate with a degree in sports management after his studies at university. His “ultimate dream” is to continue playing and working in hockey once he graduates. Anderson says his decision to go east for university and hockey was because he felt there were more opportunities.

He says his family is excited and supportive of him taking a big step in going to the east coast.

“Something brought up to me was I’m going to be pretty far from home. I’m going to have to take a couple of flights to get there, but they’re all super excited for me. Especially, my mom, she’s always supported me. My Auntie did so much for me this season, and my grandparents too because I got to live with them in my final year of junior hockey in Quesnel.”

Anderson led the River Rush with 55 points and 24 goals and was second in assists with 31 in 38 games.

During the inaugural season, Anderson said experiencing being a part of “the motion” of new team led to one of his favourite years playing hockey.

“This is probably one of the most fun, if not the best seasons I’ve ever been a part of. I’ve never been a part of such a tight group of guys. I’d say every single one of those guys I consider family. It was a great year, and I improved a lot.”
