Williams Lake and 100 Mile House Two Communities Getting Fire and Rescue Support

Williams Lake and 100 Mile House Fire Departments are receiving funding from the province for new equipment and training.
They are two Fire and Rescue departments out of more than 130 that are receiving funding for support from the Province.
$9 million is being distributed from the Province’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund. The funding is going to fire departments that rely heavily on volunteer and composite fire crews.
Over $700,000 is being distributed across Cariboo Fire Departments, including First Nations departments.
The Cariboo Regional District is receiving over $500,000 for its emergency response improvement project. Funding new equipment and training across the district.
Williams Lake Fire Department is receiving funding for a new structural turnout gear cleaning system.
Williams Lake First Nations will be funded for fire prevention and response supports. Including turnout gear replacements, mandatory safety equipment upgrades, and prescribed training.
100 Mile House is receiving funding for new structure protection equipment. Fire Chief David Bissat says he is grateful for the support from the Emergency Preparedness Fund.
“The funding for sprinkler protection unit equipment will significantly enhance our ability to deploy resourced more quickly and safely during interface wildfires. This investment is a crucial step in strengthening our community’s emergency preparedness and ensuring the safety of both residents and responders.”

Greeny Lake VFD – $12,847  (SC)
Canoe Creek First Nation – $17,437  (SC)
Mcleese Lake VFD – $33,813
Williams Lake First Nation – $11,415
