BC Police Watchdog Investigating An Incident In Quesnel

The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating the injuries of one person while in RCMP detachment cells in Quesnel.

In a release the IIO said information provided by the affected person states that at around 2:30 pm on September 8 2024, police responded to a call concerned for the person’s wellbeing at a home in Quesnel.

The affected person reported that they were injured while in RCMP custody that evening.

The Independent Investigations Office was notified of the incident on February 13, 2025 and has started an investigation.

Investigative steps will confirm that the injuries meet the threshold of serious harm, as defined by the Police Act, and what connection, if any, they have to police actions or inaction.

The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia.
