This Is Just A Test Of The Cariboo Regional District Emergency Notification System

The Cariboo Regional District will be testing it’s Emergency Notification System today (Wednesday).

It’s scheduled to begin this morning at 10 for CRD rural areas followed by the City of Quesnel at 11:30, District of Wells at 1 pm, City of Williams Lake at 1:30, and the District of 100 Mile House at 3.

“Last year we broke it up by the exact same regions to not to overload the Telecommunication Systems. CRD Manager of Communications Gerald Pinchbeck said, “With text messages, and app notifications and emails, those go out immediately. With voice calls when you receive them will depend on the capacity of your Telecommunications carrier.”

Pinchbeck said the CRD depends on Telus, Rogers, and Bells networks to send voice calls and you may experience a delay in receiving voice call notifications.

“Anyone who has subscribed to our Notification System should expect to receive an alert as long they have signed up to receive an alert for a location within the Cariboo Regional District. In the last week alone we had over 250 people sign up for our system.”

The Cariboo Regional District Emergency Notification System can be downloaded on the Voyent Alert App from the Goggle Play Store or Apple Store or by visiting the CRD’s website for more information.
