Wind Leaves Thousands Without Power

There are widespread power outages throughout the Cariboo today. (March 4)
Dave Moser, Community Relations Coordinator with BC Hydro, says the wind is causing trees to come down across power lines.
He says there are more than 1260 customers in the Quesnel area without power.
Moser says the biggest one, around 790 customers, is east of Fraser Road and South of Quesnel-Hydraulic Road.
He says around 187 customers are also without power south of Brears Road, West of Thompson, East of Coach Road and North of Quesnel Hydraulic Road.
Moser says the South Cariboo has also been hit hard.
Roughly 1200 customers are without power, mostly along Highway 97.
Moser says Williams Lake, while not as hard hit, didn’t escape the wind either.
He says roughly 660 customers are without power in the Lake City.
Most are located north and south of the Black Creek Road area.
Moser asks that people be patient as crews are working on a lot of outages and the wind is still howling.
