Controversy Following Recommendation From Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole

The civic election may be less than 3 weeks away, but that has not stopped the City of Williams Lake to make what some would call as a stunning recommendation regarding lake access.

The City made a 5-1 recommendation to limit access at Dutch Point Road to non-motorized traffic only.

Business owner and resident Greg Van Soest who has been championing the City for a boat launch on South Lakeside Drive-Dutch Point Road shares his reaction.

Scott Nelson, a Councillor Candidate, says the recommendation is both shocking and ironic.

Councilor, and Mayoral Candidate, Surindorpal Rathor says he was the only one present at Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting who did not support the recommendation as there is no other access.

The City of Williams Lake will hold their final Council meeting before the election on Nov. 4 in which the recommendation has been scheduled to be on the agenda for final consideration.

Councillor Geoff Bourdon was not present at Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
