ORIGINAL STORY: Feb 23

The Ministry of Environment and Parks, in collaboration with Northern Health, issued an air quality advisory due to high concentrations of fine particulate matter in the air.

It is expected to remain in place until the weather conditions change.

Exposure is particularly a concern for people with chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, heart disease, and diabetes.

Pregnant women, infants, and the elderly are also vulnerable.

Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions or acute infections should postpone or reduce strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.

The 24-hour air quality reading in Quesnel is at 30.8 micrograms per cubic metre.

The provincial objective is 25.
