Man wanted on several outstanding warrants back in custody in 100 Mile

A suspect in a break-in in the South Cariboo is back in police custody.

100 Mile House RCMP, with the assistance from the Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit and the North District Emergency Response Team, conducted a warrant to enter a dwelling house to make an arrest on the 7000 block of Netherland Road.

Derek James Swindells was located and subsequently arrested.

Swindells was wanted in relation to warrants from 100 Mile and Chilliwack in relation to violent offences.

He is charged in connection with a break-in at a residence on Canim Lake Road South back in August.

Police say a resident woke up to a man in his home and says he was assaulted by the suspect.

They were told that he stole firearms and other items from the residence.

Swindells is facing charges of robbery, disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offence, and break and enter.
