A restaurant on the 6400-block of the Hart Highway was the victim of a prank bomb threat on Thursday. (Jan 23)
The Prince George RCMP responded to the report of a bomb threat at the location just after 11:00 that evening.
Staff told police someone had called the store and threatened “to blow the place up.” They then evacuated the building while waiting for police to arrive.
Mounties searched the building, and determined there was nothing suspicious left either inside or outside the restaurant.
“Through the ensuing investigation, police identified a 14-year-old Prince George resident as the caller,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
“Investigators attended the youth’s home and spoke with him and his guardians, where the youth admitted to making the prank call. The youth is not known to police and this investigation will be getting referred to our Restorative Justice Unit for resolution.”
RCMP are reminding the public it is an offence to make a false bomb threat. If a person is found to be making false bomb threats, they could be charged with Uttering Threats and/or Mischief.
