Starry Night’s Fundraising Campaign Continues To Accept Donations Til January 31st

The South Cariboo Health Foundation’s Annual Starry Nights campaign is starting to wind down.

Fundraiser and Public Relations Coordinator Danielle Sabiston said she’s really pleased with how the community has rallied around to help them raise funds for two very important pieces of equipment for the 100 Mile District General Hospital’s Emergency Department.

“This is my first running the Starry Nights campaign and I’m just thrilled with the generosity of our community. I’m very pleased with the donations that have come in so far and there are a couple of cheques I have to pick up this week from some local business to help us get closer to our fundraising goal of $90,000.”

The two pieces of equipment the South Cariboo Health Foundation is raising money for include an automatic medication dispensing system as well as a video conferencing system for the Emergency Room Trauma Care.

“This system will have a 360 degree interactive camera as well as a 55-inch big screen on the wall so specialists from other locations can help our Doctors and personnel deal in situations that maybe they are not familiar with to get that specialized help. It will also allow patients here to see a specialist and get that feedback without having to travel,” Sabiston said.

The automatic medication dispensing system will also be very beneficial to the 100 Mile District General Hospital’s Emergency Department.

“Right now I’m told that personnel have to potentially leave the patient to go to the main dispensing location to access medication.” Sabiston said, “This will give them the ability to have it right there with them with the patient so patient care doesn’t lack at all.”

If anyone would still like to make a donation to the Starry Nights campaign before the end of the month (January) Sabiston said they can either drop it off at one of the Hospital reception desks or they contact her at 250-706-2101.
