Cariboo Regional District Currently Replacing It’s Live Audio-Stream System

The systems that allowed the Cariboo Regional District to provide a live audio-stream of it’s Board meetings have stopped working.

Manager of Communications Gerald Pinchbeck said late last week they discovered that the audio system inside their boardroom experienced a technical failure.

“There is some old hardware that is end-of-life and can no longer be replaced through the vendor that the CRD purchased it from. For the upcoming Board meetings in January and February we will not be able to have a live audio-stream.”

Pinchbeck said the Cariboo Regional District has been looking at a new audio-visual system since 2023 when the Board allocated some Growing Communities Funds from the Provincial Government to replace the current system.

“There have been some technical issues for users that made interacting with the Board difficult and there was a desire from the Board to improve how they could interact with people that were calling in for delegations so people who couldn’t make it into the boardroom could still interact with the Board as if they were in-person.”

The Cariboo Regional District said they are in the final stages of replacing this system and could be in operation by mid-March.

The new system is projected to cost $160,000 plus installation costs.
