Charges laid against man police call “a violent repeat offender”

30-year old Christopher McDonagh is facing several charges, including dangerous driving, flight from police, resisting arrest, driving while disqualified, and taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner.

He was taken into custody back on December 16th after a report of a stolen vehicle.

RCMP says they attempted to apprehend the driver who then accelerated forward striking a police vehicle before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed through a crowded parking lot.

The vehicle was later reported to have gone off the road in Kersley and the driver had fled on foot.

Police Dog Services out of Prince George attended and a suspect was eventually located barricaded in a shed.

RCMP said at the time that the suspect was well known to them and was recently released on conditions for a similar offence that required electronic monitoring.

Police say he was found to be breaching his conditions as he removed his ankle monitoring device shortly after being released.

McDonagh is also charged with breach of probation and breach of a release order.
