City of Quesnel sounding alarm on “parking scam”

Another scam is making the rounds in the Quesnel area.

This one involves parking tickets.

Kari Bolton is the Director of Corporate and Financial Services with the city.

“Several residents have reported to us that they have received texts regarding an outstanding municipal parking violation, and it’s asking them to click a link to avoid having their drivers license suspended. So the city just wants to make it clear that we don’t send out texts related to any type of payments. If we were following up on an outstanding ticket it would be a letter in the mail. We do not send out texts, We warn people not to click on these links.”

Bolton notes that this scam has been reported to the RCMP and it is also on Canada’s anti-fraud website.
