Traffic is once again flowing on Highway 97 north of Quesnel.
That wasn’t the case this morning though.
Staff Sergeant Richard Weseen says they were kept busy with several car accidents due to overnight freezing rain.
“During a two hour period police responded to four transport trucks and two personal vehicles that left the roadway between the Quesnel Airport and 10 Mile Lake on Highway 97. The Highway was shut down for approximately one hour before alternating traffic was put in place to allow the trucks to be towed from the ditch.”
Weseen says it was very fortunate that there were no injuries.
He would like to remind motorists to drive for the road conditions, adding that the wet roads combined with the unusually warm weather that we’re getting in January are the perfect conditions to producing black ice.
