Fire Chief Ron Richert says the call came in at around 10 o’clock.

“The Quesnel Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire on the 400 block of Hartley Street. When crews arrived there was a fully involved motor home. The fire did spread to an adjacent shop, which they had to extinguish also.”

Richert says there were no injuries as the property is actually abandoned right now.

“There is a home on it but it’s boarded up. There has been people seen around the motor home, but nobody was there at the time.”

Richert says the vehicle was destroyed though and there was also extensive damage done to the shop.

He says there were around a dozen fire fighters on scene for a couple of hours, pretty much right up until midnight.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
