Ford F Series Trucks a ‘Hot’ Item in 100 Mile House

RCMP are investigating three Ford F Series trucks that were reported stolen all within a couple of days from one another.

A white 2004 Ford F250 was taken from a residence on December 20 and was later found at a parking lot on the 500 Block of Cedar Ave. A red 2004 F350 was reported stolen on December 22 from Jens Rd and found later the same day abandoned near the landfill on Exeter Station Rd.

A grey ’04 F350 was found unoccupied at a parking lot while RCMP was patrolling the 500 Block on Cedar Ave. Queries showed the truck had been reported stolen from Penticton.

Police are not ruling out the possibility that the thefts were done by the same person.

“Is it possible… Absolutely,” says RCMP Sergeant Brian Lamb. “We don’t have that many stolen Ford F series trucks in that span of time.”

“Somebody is currently active in the area targeting these vehicles, and are familiar with how to take them without a key.”

Lamb and RCMP suggest for all residents, “but certainly” residents with similar makes and models of the targeted vehicles to keep doors locked and all sets of keys accounted for.

Other suggestions include getting spotlights that turn on with motion detection as well as surveillance cameras to cover locations where vehicles are stored on properties.

Police ask anyone from the public with any information available on the thefts or others to call the 100 Mile RCMP detachment.
