Cariboo postal workers disappointed and frustrated with government intervention in their strike

The President of Local 8-1-6 in Quesnel is predictably disappointed in today’s decision by the federal government.

Echo Law says it is extremely frustrating.

“It’s a kick in the but of course and this government just uses this move over and over and over again, so when is any employer. There is no incentive to bargain any more when the government is going to intervene.”

Law goes as far as calling it “an abuse of power.”

She says members are definitely not in the greatest mood today.

“It’s been a rough go, we’re on day 28 now of no pay. It’s been tough, we’re trying to make the best of today and we are trying to keep our spirits high, and it’s not easy. It’s been a tough time of year and a tough month.”

Law says the union made an offer to Canada Post on Monday and they never did get a response, but yet the government has still chosen to take this step today.
