Northern Health Gets Prepared in Event of Ebola

Northern Health is getting prepared for the unlikely event of an Ebola case in our region.

Doctor Sandra Allison, the Chief Medical Health Officer for Northern Health, says with what is going on in Africa and the global world that we live in, they feel that they need to be ready for anything.

Allison stresses however that the odds of an Ebola case occurring here are very slim…

Allison says they are ensuring that all of the protocols and policies are in place for managing an Ebola case, which includes ensuring that health staff has the information needed to protect themselves and that protocols are being developed for screening individuals.

The designated site of an Ebola patient in the region is the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George.
