Jail time for vehicle thief arrested after foot pursuit in Quesnel

20 days in jail.

That was the sentence handed down to a 26-year old man who was arrested following a brief standoff with police in Quesnel.

Kyle Frederick Ford pleaded guilty to charges of possession of stolen property and resisting arrest in provincial court in Williams Lake.

Quesnel RCMP attempted to arrest a man who was believed to be in possession of a stolen vehicle in the morning (8:45 A.M.)back on September 12th.

Police say the man resisted arrest and after a brief struggle attempted to flee the scene on foot.

He fled into the basement of a nearby residence in the 300 block of Elliott Street, where he eventually gave himself up.

No one was hurt.

Truck fire the cause of grassland fire near 100 Mile House ice rink

A truck caught fire on Wrangler Way in 100 Mile House, that spread onto the nearby grass, creating a wildland fire. 100 Mile House Fire Department was able to contain the blaze quickly, and report no one was injured.
