NHL GM’s Son Signs with 100 Mile

The 100 Mile House Wranglers’ sign a piece of hockey legacy to bolster their blue line.

The Wranglers have signed Camden Bowman, a 6 foot, 190 pound Defenseman, after being released from the Drayton Valley Thunder in the AJHL.

Before Drayton Valley, Bowman played a season with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in the OJHL.

Head Coach and GM of the Wranglers, Levi Stuart, says Bowman’s experience in the two upper leagues will bring a “calm, smart veteran presence” on the Wranglers’ blue line.

“We expect him to step in and help us right away,” says Stuart. “Cam’s a big addition, he’s got a lot of experience, and he can come in and help our penalty kill right way, which is something we’ve struggled with all year.”

Camden Bowman, is the son of Stan Bowman, the GM of the Edmonton Oilers, and grandson of Scotty Bowman, the winningest coach in NHL History.

Stuart says that Camden Bowman’s lineage doesn’t affect his status within the team. Bowman’s just “another guy” among the players and coaches.

“He’s fitting in right way and the boys love him,” Stuart says. “He doesn’t get treated differently. Nobody looks at it differently because of who he is. I think it’s great that he’ll be here, he’s able to do his own thing and mature as a 19-year old. It’s going to be a good year.”

Stan Bowman was in 100 Mile watching Camden skate with the team, which Coach Stuart said “upped the tempo” of this morning’s practice.

Camden Bowman’s first game will be on Friday, November 29, when the Wranglers visit Kamloops to take on the Storm.
