Miocene Volunteer Fire Department Responded To 2 Fires Within 48 hours

It was an early start to the day for members of the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department.

Cariboo Regional District Fire Roger Hollander said just before 3 this (Tuesday) morning they responded along with 150 Mile and Wildwood VFD’s to a structure fire in the Duggan Lake area.

“It was a shop fire approximately 60 by 40 feet and upon arrival it was fully involved,” Hollander said, “Crews were able to protect some of the vehicles that were on the property. The shop sustained substantial damage, it was burnt to the ground including all of the items that were in that outbuilding.”

Hollander said there was one occupant that did suffer some smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation with the Fire Department and the RCMP as well,” Hollander added.

Prior to the structure fire that the Miocene Volunteer Fire Department attended today (Tuesday) Hollander said yesterday (Monday) evening at approximately 7 o’clock they also responded to a chimney fire on Allpress Road and were able to extinguish the fire without incident.
