Drive by shooting suspect sentenced in Quesnel

A Quesnel man, charged in connection with a drive by shooting, will be spending some time behind bars.

36-year old Harley Gardiner was sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to one count each of unlawfully discharging a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

Three other charges were stayed.

The charges were in connection with an incident in September of 2023.

Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Malcolm Drive.

Police say witnesses reported that a vehicle drove past the location and fired several shots at the building.

Sergeant Clay Kronebusch said at the time that “it was very lucky that no one was hurt.”
