RCMP believe suspect to be linked in second random attack

It’s a second random attack in less than a week within the Lake City.

RCMP S/Sgt. Del Byron says on Sunday at 10:16 pm they received a report of a male having been randomly assaulted.

The victim who was walking on the 600 block of Second Avenue North was approached by a male suspect on a BMX bike with black handlebars who demanded to show him what was in his pockets.

The victim who shows the suspect that all he has in his pockets are his keys is allegedly punched in the face.

The suspect is described as wearing as a blue-black plaid winter jacket and a black balaclava over his head, with only his eyes and mouth showing and having short and scruffy facial hair around his mouth.

Police say they believe the suspect may be linked to a home invasion on the 4000 block of Mackenzie Avenue on Wednesday in which a male fought off a hammer-wielding intruder as well as a random attack on a woman who was walking her dog also in the 600 block of Second Avenue North.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Williams Lake RCMP or Crimestoppers.
