“Help Wanted” At The Williams Lake Animal Centre

Due to a staffing shortage the Williams Lake Community Animal Centre has been open by appointment only.

“While that’s happening we just need to ensure that we are focusing on the care of the animals.” Ashley Fontaine-Ost Senior Manager for the Interior and Fraser Valley BC SPCA said, “So we’re just asking the community to make an appointment if they’d like to come view or adopt any of the animals in care.”

Fontaine-Ost said they are looking for a Central Manager and a full-time Animal Care Attendant and those postings can be found on the BC SPCA website as well the Williams Lake SPCA Facebook Page.

Following a successful interview, she said they have an extensive on-boarding process for staff and volunteers that includes online training before coming into the Centre and doing hands on training with the animals.

With the colder weather coming as well as the Holiday Season, Fontaine-Ost said they are in urgent need to have a full staff.

We’re quite concerned about our capacity to take in and care for these animals. Of course as an Organization we’re going to make sure that we are doing that and we do have other programs in the Province and at other Centre’s that can help support. Ideally having a full staff would help to alleviate the work on the staff that is currently there.”

Fontaine-Ost added that they appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding at this time.
