A Boo-Tiful Day To Trick Or Treat In The Cariboo

Will Mother Nature have a trick or a treat in store for the Cariboo’s Halloween activities?

We asked Warning Preparedness Meteorologist for Environment Canada, Armel Castellan, to look into his crystal ball.

Fortunately the temperatures will be quite mild, seven degrees today which is about two degrees above the seasonal average for this time of the year. From a wind perspective, for the five to seven pm hours it will probably be fairly calm, we might see a little bit bit of a South East breeze but quite low in wind speed so it shouldn’t be too cold on the little fingers holding their Halloween bags.”

Overnight Castellan said temperatures will dip down to minus five which is a little bit cooler than the normal of minus 3 for this time of year.

He added that skies will be clear tonight and we might even get a glimpse at the moon adding to our Halloween ambience in the Cariboo.

As we head into the weekend, late Friday, the region will start to see the chance of mixed precipitation that could last into Saturday morning.

Castellan said by Saturday afternoon there may be light flurries that he doesn’t think will stick around for very long, but the first of many to come in the weeks and months ahead.

We are coming into more wintry weather. There were some top five’s in January and February but in November of 2022, right after Halloween there was a day with six centimetres on the third followed by five the next day, and again six centimetres on the sixth, and another six on the seventh. So that particular week was a very snowy stretch but this week I suspect the region will get a couple of centimetres at most.”
