One person taken to hospital in accident on the Barkerville Highway

A collision earlier this (Wednesday) morning closed Highway 26 (the Barkerville Highway) for a couple of hours.

Quesnel RCMP Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says they were called to the scene at 7:34 a.m.

“RCMP responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on the Barkerville Highway near Fanslau Road involving a pickup truck and a logging truck. The driver of the pickup truck has been taken to hospital with on-life threatening injuries. It appears the driver of the pickup truck was attempting to make a u-turn and was struck by the logging truck.”

Kronebusch says the driver of the logging truck was not injured.

The road has since re-opened.

 

**UPDATE 10:25 am

Drive BC is reporting the road is cleared between Fanslau Road and Schemenauer Road on Highway 26 East of Quesnel.

It had been closed earlier this morning due to a vehicle incident.

Drive BC is reporting there is now single lane alternating traffic between Fanslau Road and Schemenauer Road.

Motorists can expect minor delays.

Drive BC is reporting Highway 26 East of Quesnel is closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident.

The closure is between Fanslau Road and Schemenauer Road for two and a half kilometres.

Assessment is in progress and Drive BC said motorists can detour via Schemenauer Road.

The next update time is expected at 10 this morning.
