Skepticism Over Amendments to Mines Act

Recent changes to the Mines Act, have left some feeling skeptical about the provincial government releasing public information.

Norm Macdonald, NDP opposition spokesperson for energy and mines says he has some concerns of the amendments, which now allow the province up to 3 years to pursue charges for incidents committed under the act, including the Mount Polley breach.

Bill Benett Minister of Energy and Mines, and also the Minister Responsible for Core Review says the NDP is utilizing this opportunity in a political way.

The Mines Act which was amended on Thursday.
