Williams Lake Records 7th Warmest September On Record

Normal for precipitation and warmer than normal.

That’s how Environment Canada Meteorologist Brian Proctor summed up how the month of September was in the Cariboo.

For Quesnel the mean temperature was 13.1 degrees and the normal mean temperature is 11.5 making it the 18th warmest. In Williams Lake the temperature was 13.0 and the normal is 10.6 making it the 7th warmest September.”

Proctor said when he looked at the precipitation amounts that fell in those two communities Quesnel recorded 55.8 millimetres versus a normal of 50.2 and for Williams Lake 45.9 millimetres fell in September and the normal is 41.8.

Proctor added when looking ahead the region will see a transition into a little more La Nina like conditions as we move into the Thanksgiving Day long weekend meaning cooler temperatures are likely and probably a bit more precipitation then we would normally see.

He reminds the public they need to prepared as Environment Canada i starting to see that snowfall potential creeping in and it’s likely to get more and more pronounced as we move through October so be prepared to adjust to driving conditions and driving habits.
