Community Futures has continued to support those starting up a local business.
Williams Lake’s J&P Machine Works is one example, helping co-owners Pat Vinge and Jesse Wilson take over the business from the previous owner, as they had little knowledge on how.
Wilson says an organization like Community Futures is critical for local entrepreneurs.
“It is incredibly important for them to have that. I don’t think a lot of people who aren’t really experienced would actually be able to get going if there weren’t people like them to actually help.”
Vinge added there would be a lot more failed small businesses without the knowledge and support of Community Futures.
Across Northern BC last year, the organization provided 500 business advisories, which included building a business plan, looking at next steps, and for those looking to sell their business.
General Manager, Karen Eden says it isn’t just about the businesses, but also community economic development for smaller communities such as Williams Lake.
Community Futures Williams Lake have partnered with eight other offices in Northern BC, launching a campaign aimed at informing more business owners about the available support.
