Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd Honored For Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Forestry

While in Ottawa at the 2024 DEMO International Conference, Executive Director Percy Guichon accepted the Indigenous Business Leadership Award Thursday night (September 19) from Forest Products Association of Canada.

It celebrates Indigenous entrepreneurs and organizations that exemplify business leadership by delivering high quality products and services while upholding environmental stewardship and safety.

Guichon said Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd (CCR) has been working hard for many years to help lead the way to take on large scale forest rehabilitation work that provides many economic, social, and environmental benefits for communities now and for future generations.

Guichon,a councillor of Tsideldel First Nation, has been a driving force behind CCR’s success, a joint venture owned by the Tsideldel First Nation and the Tl’etinqox Government.

Derek Nighbor, President and CEO of Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) said Guichon’s team is leading the charge in integrating Indigenous knowledge with modern forestry practices resulting in meaningful economic opportunities and sustainable land management.

Their excellent work on forest rehabilitation, along with their dedication to cultural and ecological stewardship, make them truly deserving of this recognition. FPAC is honoured to celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they continue to make within their communities and the forest sector,” Nighbor said.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.
