Quesnel residents are once again being asked to give to the annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Russell Higdon, Chair of the Committee that is running the event, says the bags were dropped off this week and they’re hoping that people will now fill them with what they can to help out those that are struggling.
“We delivered upwards of 35-hundred bags to approximately 40 different routes around the community of Quesnel. We pick up on Saturday morning. We have a drop off point where all of our volunteers deliver the bags to. We consolidate all of the bags into a large trailer, we weight it and get a net weight of pounds of food delivered each year.”
Higdon says they are looking for non-perishable food items.
He says if people forget to fill them they can also drop off donations at hampers at the grocery stores and they will be added to their total up until the 28th.
Last year residents donated 7,670 pounds of food.
Everything that is collected will go to the Nourish Food Bank in Quesnel.
