Fire destroys commercial building in Lone Butte

A commercial building in Lone Butte just off Highway 24 went up in flames early this morning.

Roger Hollander, Regional Fire Chief with the Cariboo Regional District, says the Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at around 2 a.m.

He says upon arrival the restaurant was fully engulfed with flames coming from the attic area.

Hollander says 100 Mile Fire Rescue provided mutual aid.

There were a total of 9 apparatus on scene.

Hollander says there were no occupants at the time and there were no injuries.

The building housed two business, Sweet Ash Bistro and Smith Antiques.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Boil Water Notice in Effect in Russet Bluff

Residents of the Russet Bluff Subdivision will have to boil water for the time being.  The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has issued a Boil Water Notice for the Russet Bluff Water System effective immediately until further notice as the upper well of the water system cannot keepup with the demand on the water supply.
