Guichon To Meet With With Others Committed To Sustainable Forest Management

The Executive Director of Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation Ltd. (CCR) will be in Ottawa this week.

Percy Guichon has been invited to speak tomorrow (September 17) and Tuesday (September 18) at the prestigious 2024 DEMO International Conference organized by the Canadian Woodlands Forum.

“It’s pretty exciting and an honour to have this opportunity to present at this conference,” Guishon said, “I think CCR will have the opportunity to showcase important forest management work that we’ve been involved in. I’m really looking forward to networking and building relationships and share ideas with other innovation forest companies.”

Guichon’s presentation is titled “A Small First Nation Making Big Impact in BC”.

“I will be speaking about the many challenges in the forest industry that we’re experiencing and how we have overcome some of these and created opportunities for our communities. I’ll also speak about the importance of collaboration, building partnerships and being innovative in forest management and wood product utilization.”

Guichon has been with Central Chilcotin Rehabilitation since it started back in 2016 and never imagined the growth and success that they have had.

“Our team obviously works very hard to get to this point and CCR is achieving it’s vision of promoting First Nation involvement in forest management and enhancing the long term health of the forest for future generations. It’s been a great ride so far and we’ve developed great partnerships, relationships with industry and both levels of government and other First Nations to build CCR to where it is today.”

Guichon said his hope after the conference ends is to access more opportunities with national programs like National Resources Canada and to bring back some ideas on other innovative projects being implemented throughout Canada.

Conference organizer Canadian Woodlands Forum is a not-for-profit membership based organization recognized for its dedication to promoting sustainable forest management.
