Demolition Clean Up Underway On Oliver Street In Williams Lake

Pedestrians and motorists may have noticed a change at the foot of Oliver Street in Williams Lake.
Last weekend demolition started on the 2 remaining buildings on the 4 lots in that area.
City of Williams Lake Manager of Planning and Development, Garey Deane says the house that was located behind the former Diamond and Dust Cabaret was pulled down, removed, and had the basement excavation filled and rough levelled.
The two buildings previously used as a Barber Shop and Tattoo Parlour were also pulled down carefully to avoid damage to the new Mings restaurant and the city sidewalk.
Deane says the lots will be cleared of concrete foundations with all excavations filled, made safe, and graded to direct surface water away from adjacent sidewalks and buildings.
He says once the lots have been smoothed the security fencing around the sites will be removed.
