Temporary supportive housing in the works for the Grace Inn in Quesnel

Plans are in place to have 20 temporary housing units in place at the Grace Inn in Quesnel by November.

Tanya Turner, the Director of Development Services with the City, provided an update to Council last (Tuesday) night.

She said that the two buildings directly behind Craig’s Table on Carson Avenue will be demolished to make room for the temporary supportive housing.

Turner said that it would be fenced and access controlled which is expected to significantly improve management of the site..

The temporary units are expected to stay for 20 to 24 months

This is just phase one as there are plans for a full redevelopment of the Grace Inn to provide 45 supportive housing units.

BC Housing will be sending out a letter to surrounding property owners next week outlining its plans.
