A negotiated settlement has not been reached between TRUFA and the Thompson Rivers University.
President of the TRU Faculty Association, Tom Friedman says he believes that when they went into mediation, the Faculty felt the parties were quite far apart on some key issues.
“What happened after two and half weeks of back and forth, the mediator himself, Mr. Mark Brown, recognized that there wasn’t going to a negotiated settlement, that the parties weren’t going to be able to agree so he’s made a set of independent recommendations to both parties.”
Friedman says the recommendations are meant to have a settlement in place put forth by the mediator, not one negotiated freely between the parties.
He says the recommendations will be brought to the membership by the Executive on Tuesday and that there will be no interruptions to classes.
