Moose Killed Towards Likely Being Investigated By BC Conservation Officer Service

BC Conservation Officer Service is looking for the public’s help.

Field Officer Chay Keenan-Toop said they were notified on Sunday August 18th of a moose was killed about 12 kilometres up the Buckston Forest Service Road near Morehead Lake towards Likely.

“A local logging truck was able to capture some dashcam footage of the vehicle and two individuals, approximately 30-years-old, that were loading the moose into the vehicle.” Keenan-Toop said.

Keenan-Toop said the truck is a white Ford Superduty pickup with a large white front bush bumper and in the bed of the truck was a large dark red dog box that the suspects had flipped up on end so it was sticking up over the cab in order to fit the moose into the bed of the truck.

“Conservation Officer Service is just looking for anybody who might have any information on this vehicle so that we can follow up with them and determine compliance and whether the moose was harvested legally or illegally.”

Keenan-toop said right now there is no open season on bull moose within the area that the moose was killed in so we’re just looking to find some more information and talk to whoever was there.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the RAAP Line 1-877-952-7277.
