Williams Lake will be celebrating Pride next week.

Williams Lake Pride Week will begin next week, with a kickoff of a flag raising ceremony at City Hall.

Before then, the Pride Society will hold a couple events tomorrow including a rock painting party at the Arts Centre, and a pool party at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex later in the day.

Interim Vice President and Treasurer, Carrie Julius says the events will continue through next week.

‘We’ve got a few things happening on our Facebook page, we’ll be at Performances in the Park on Thursday, Friday the 23rd, we’re planning a rainbow walk. That’ll be downtown meeting at City Hall at 6:00pm.” says Julius.

“Saturday, we end the week with our magical mixer at the Arts Centre, and we’re planning that as a 19 and over event, and it will be a dinner, trivia and door prizes.”

Julius says there’s nothing like having the support of the City, and notes the incident where the rainbow crosswalk had been vandalized, but had help getting it cleaned up before the Stampede Parade.

The Pride flag raising will begin on Monday (August 19th), at 12:00pm, and will have local dignitaries such as the Mayor and Council, along with speakers and others.
