The Evacuation Order issued for the Chilcotin Confluence South Area has been lifted in accordance to the BC Emergency and Disaster Management act.
Effective immediately, residents are allowed to return to the area, however landslide and river assessment is ongoing in the area.
The Cariboo Regional District asks those to avoid interfering with monitoring activity, stay aware for potential additional slides or flooding, and watch for livestock and wildlife on roads, as fences may have been damaged.
Residents should prepare themselves emotionally for their return as the community may not look the same prior to the evacuation, and must be prepared in the event that the area receives a future evacuation order or alert on short notice.
Before returning, residents should fill their personal vehicles fuel tank, bring a minimum of three days worth of essentials including food and water, and monitor reliable news sources and CRD’s channels for evacuation orders and locations of Reception Centres.
