Quesnel Fire Department support multiple departments during the wildfire season

As fires affected Jasper, and a close call for Williams Lake, the Quesnel Fire Department was there to support.

Quesnel sent down a fire truck and four members to Williams Lake for the River Valley wildfire, on July 21st, and were there until the 23rd.

Fire Chief Ron Richert says they supported the neighbouring province shortly after.

“The Jasper wildfire happened on Wednesday, July 24th, and same kind of protocol, we received a call from WildfireBC asking if we could send a truck to Alberta, Jasper for the wildfire there.” says Richert.

‘They were asking for a truck and a task force leader.”

Richert says they sent a fire truck and a pick-up, along with five members, and were there until the 28th.

He added the City of Quesnel is always willing to help other communities, while maintaining their own fire protection, and recognizes that they also get support from people in the City on social media.

In case there’s a call for support, a list is sent out to fire departments to register equipment help other communities each year.
