Sam Ketcham Pool Project receives $500,000 from Federal Government

The federal government announced the support of $500,000 for upgrades for the Sam Ketcham Pool in Williams Lake Thursday.
Steve Forseth, Regional Director for Area D with the Cariboo Regional District says the funding is a tremendous help towards the $11.3 million dollar project.
“We know the burden on local taxpayers right now so any money that we can find, any grants that we can find to fund this project is a less burden on local taxpayers overall.”
An open house on the proposed plans for the new aquatic centre will take place on Wednesday which according to Forseth may be the public’s only opportunity to provide feedback.

“Unless the Central Cariboo say whether the joint committee directs otherwise this is the only opportunity for people to provide their input at this stage.”

The open house runs from 3 until 6 pm.

The funding which was announced by Richard Harris, Member of Parliament for Cariboo-Prince George, on behalf of the Honourable Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification comes under the Government of Canada’s Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

Harris was unable to attend the announcement.
