Williams Lake Fire Department Responds to Boat Fire Friday Afternoon

The Williams Lake Fire Department was on the scene of a boat that caught fire on Highway 97 South near Signal Point Road Friday afternoon.

“Some people were coming through town from Hixon and they were going out to a resort here to go fishing,” said deputy fire chief Rob Warnock.

“Just after he went through the intersection he looked back and he could see smoke coming out of his boat”

10 members and two apparatus worked to extinguish the fire while RCMP directed traffic around the scene though Broadway Avenue South.

No one was injured and the owners were able to disconnect their truck from the boat away from the fire.

“The only damage was done to the boat,” says Warnock.

“It’s a write-off.”

The cause of the fire is not known.
