Gas prices above $1 per litre return

“We’re certainly not going to go back to 85-cents a liter as we saw in many places just back a month ago.”

The party for motorists filling up on low gas prices is over according to Dan McTeague, a senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.

Although prices for oil are not going anywhere, McTeague says global market prices for gasoline could continue to rise in the next couple of days hitting motorists across the province including the Cariboo, where gas prices have already gone up by 10 cents a liter.

McTeague says another contributing factor is the weakness of the Canadian dollar and believes that prices could “settle” down in the next 4 weeks with refineries in the US getting back online and going through their seasonal changes in the types of oil they produce.

Today’s average gas prices within the Cariboo range from 99.9 a liter in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House up to 105.9 a liter in Quesnel.
