Charges Laid After Stolen Property Located In Wildfire Evacuation Zone

BC’s Combined Special Enforcement Unit has made an arrest in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of property stolen from residents that have been evacuated because of the wildfires in the area.

Police say their investigation led them to a property in the Beaver Creek area, outside of Williams Lake.

Approximately 65-thousand dollars worth of stolen heavy equipment was located.

38-year Shane Brady, a Big Lake resident, has now been charged with Possession of Stolen Property with a higher value than 5 thousand dollars.

His next court date will be this Thursday.

The investigation also involved members of the Burnaby RCMP Strike Force, the BC Conservation Service and the RCMP’s “E” Division North District Federal and Serious Organized Crime Unit.
