This year’s Families Fighting Cancer fundraiser in Williams Lake was a resounding success.
Coordinator Corry Williams says it was a sold out event Saturday night and that they were able to raise over $34,000.
She says they were also able to raise funds for a local family who is fighting cancer a second time around.
“So all of the money that we raised from the head shaves and the hair donations, we had told them would be going straight to the Singleton family. At the event we were able to present the family with a cheque for $9,350.”
Williams says although they typically do the fundraiser every two years, they are noticing a greater need and are thinking of doing a smaller scale event next year.
