today’s lesson in Cariboo schools “Make Nice”

Today schools throughout the Cariboo are taking part in Pink Shirt day to help end bullying.

In Williams Lake Marie Sharpe Elementary students will be showing their support by taking part in several events that are planned and run by their student leadership Team.

Calvin Dubray is the Principal and he talks about how successful Pink Shirt Day was last year.

“We had a really good Pink shirt day last year. We did a big poster where all the kids put their handprints in pink and made a pledge to stand up against bullies and be a friend and not a bully. So it was successful last year and I see the same happening this year”.

Pink Shirt Day began back in 2007 when two Nova Scotia high school students decided to take a stand.

They went out and bought pink shirts to give to fellow students to show their support for a boy who was being bullied simply for wearing a pink  shirt.

This years theme is “Make Nice”.
