Vehicle Fire closes Highway 97 South Of Quesnel this morning

**UPDATE 11:30am**

Highway 97 south of Quesnel near Melville Road was closed this morning due to a vehicle fire.

Quesnel RCMP Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says the call came in at around 6-30 a.m.

“The vehicle caught on fire, looks like it was related to mechanical issues, and the road was closed temporarily. It is now open to one lane traffic only waiting for the vehicle fire to be extinguished and the vehicle removed.”

Kronebusch says the incident happened outside the fire protection zone so they just have to let it burn.
